About Me

I am a proud native Vermonter.  My formative years were spent in Putney, Vermont.   I lived across the road from Santa’s Land and had the incredible opportunity to have chimpanzees, llamas, camels, goats, lambs, peacocks, and countless other animals and birds roaming around my childhood home and backyard.  I graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington, Vermont and am proud to be closely connected with many of my Class of 85’ers to this day.  My high school English teacher Ronn “Cab” Cabaniol inspired me to become the first and only one of my siblings to graduate from college.  Because of him,  and the support of many along the way,  I am a proud alumnus of the University of Vermont where I earned both my Bachelors of Arts and my Masters of Education degrees.

Prior to becoming a teacher I worked for a transportation corporation where I learned valuable skills, but after years of endless travel and lack of community I moved back to Vermont in 1996, where I took classes at the Community College of Vermont and made the best decision of my life: to quit my job and pursued the most fulfilling career I have ever had - teaching.  I am proud of the life my brilliant partner Chris and I have created since meeting in 1998.  We became “Civilized” (Civil Unions) in 2002, and married in 2013.  He and I are both educators and dedicated to providing unparalleled access to learning, inclusiveness, and social justice in our classrooms and our community.  We have two beautiful Golden Retrievers, Nano and Pico, and a cranky cat named Casco.

In my spare time I love to travel, spend time in my gardens, read, laugh, cook, and spend time with my amazing friends.

I love teaching social studies content.  I am proud of our Eagle Nation, and grateful to be part of the MAUSD community.
