About Me

At Mt. Abraham I primarily teach high school physical education.  I also serve as one of three Teacher Leaders for the STEAM department and I'm the head coach for the Varsity Girls Soccer Team.

As a physical education teacher, I most enjoy helping students gain knowledge and skills for a lifetime of fitness and healthy living.  I also enjoy pursuing new learning, collaborating with others, trying different approaches, incorporating technology into my practice, and sharing the joy of sports and physical activities with my students.  I feel honored and privileged to be able to teach and coach professionally in my home community.

Outside of school, I live in Bristol with my wife, Jennifer, and three children, Evan, Ila, and Audrey.  I enjoy spending time with my family, running, biking, and playing soccer.  I'm a native of Monkton and a proud 1998 Mt. Abraham graduate.  I did my pre-service teaching with Judy Rice at Mt. Abe in the spring of 2002 and I've taught full time at Mt. Abe since the fall of 2004.

Prior to teaching at Mt. Abe, I taught PK-8th grade physical education at St. Thomas Aquinas School in S. Buffalo, NY and I was the assistant men's soccer coach at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY 2002-2004.  I completed my teacher training, as well as my BS and MS degrees in Physical Education at Canisius College, in Buffalo, NY, where I also played 4 years of NCAA D1 collegiate soccer and captained my team as a senior prior to being named assistant coach.  I also played soccer semi-professionally for the VT Voltage in the United Soccer League PDL.

As a coach, I hold an NSCAA Advanced National soccer coaching diploma, and NFHS certifications in many sports.  I've been honored by Lake Division Soccer Coaches and the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association as VT State Girls Soccer Coach of the Year multiple times and I've coached the Vermont Twin State Girls Soccer Team 4 times (twice as an assistant and twice as a head coach).  I also coached Mt. Abraham to our first ever State Championship in Girls Soccer in 2014 and to Lake Div League Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2019.  We also won an NSCAA team Academic Award in 2014 when we achieved an impressive cumulative team GPA of 3.77!

In addition to coaching soccer, I have also coached Middle School Basketball and Baseball at Mt. Abraham and I’m also an active soccer and baseball coach with Addison United Soccer Club and Mt. Abraham Babe Ruth Baseball, which are both partner organizations with Mt. Abraham.  What I enjoy most about coaching is the growth I see in student-athletes, the relationships built within a team, and the joy of sport and play.
