About Me

Providing love and support to others has always been my passion. Though, as I embarked on my journey to discover my career, I assured my mom I would not be studying special education, which we all jokingly referred to as the “family business” since my mom, aunt and uncle are all special educators. When I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology (I love rocks) I thought employment in the sciences was my path. After three weeks of wearing a lab coat and testing polluted water samples at an environment science lab, I realized science would have to be my pastime and not my career. I worked for one year as a para-educator at Champlain Valley Union High School, and I knew I was home. I enrolled in the graduate education program at St. Michael’s college, and became a licensed special educator in the spring of 2007. I then received my master’s degree in special education in 2010.

I was hired by Mt. Abe in the fall of 2007. Each and every day I feel blessed to be supporting and advocating for students and their families as they navigate the complexities of high school. I am incredibly thankful to be a teacher.

Outside of school I am happily married to a special educator, and we have three beautiful sons. Together we most enjoy spending time at the ocean. My oldest has assured me that he’s definitely not joining the family business. We’ll see :)
