Melinda Bessette

I serve as a Work-Based Learning Teacher (Tuesday–Thursday) and Behavioral Assistant (Monday and Friday) at Mt. Abraham Union Middle and High School. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Castleton State College and have spent the past decade working in social work in Addison County.

I grew up in Granville, NY, and now live in Salisbury, VT. Much of my life has been spent in, on, and around Lake Champlain. I am a licensed barber with a mobile barbershop and a licensed waterfowl hunting guide.

My husband, Shaw, and I have two sons, Layne and Silas, who can best be described as the real-life version of the movie Step Brothers. As a family, we spend a great deal of time with my three nephews and our three Labrador retrievers—Drake, Love, and Sin. I enjoy being outdoors, anything vintage, waterfowl hunting, fishing, cooking, helping others, and cheering on my boys at their sporting events.
