I'm Sophie or Ms. Schneider and I'm so excited to be teaching science in the middle school here at Mt. Abe. I am originally from Oakland, California but fell in love with New England when I attended Smith College in Massachusetts. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Biology after working in several labs with creatures like crabs, snails, and aquatic insects. I went back to California for a couple years where I worked for the local Parks Department leading school groups and volunteers in restoration projects. Eventually, I found my way to the classroom through leading outdoor trips and substitute teaching at my own high school. I then worked at a school for students with disabilities as an instructional assistant and made the decision to come back East and become a full time teacher. 

In 2025-26 I completed the MAT program at UVM and got credentialed to teach science before landing here at Mt. Abe! I'm so happy to be an eagle!!
