Driver Education is a partnership between students, parents, teachers and the Mount Abraham Community.  Each student will participate in an A.O.E. certified program that meets the current Graduated Driving Law (GDL) standards with the goal to prepare them for driving within our five-town community.  During enrollment, each student is required to complete at least 30 hours of classroom instruction while demonstrating proficiency for the classroom learning targets. Concurrently, students will need to complete at least six hours of documented behind the wheel instruction and six hours of documented observation in a dual controlled vehicle while demonstrating proficiency for the in-vehicle learning targets.  To support the learning, students are required to complete at least 20 hours of documented driving with their Parents/Guardians as explained in the GDL using the guide book - Partnership for Expert Driving: Teacher, Teen, Parent.  The culminating summative assessment for every student is to proficiently complete the final driving exam.

Students that are not driving during Driving Lab will be scheduled for Learning Commons-H.O.W, Literacy and/or Math.  11th  and 12th grade students may earn unassigned time (depending on individual student needs).
